The Ministry of Finance came alive with colour, culture and excitement as directors and staff took to the runway in Ghana’s traditional fugu, in a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian heritage as part of activities marking this year’s Client Service Week.
The event, which transformed the Ministry’s premises into a lively cultural runway, sought to promote and celebrate the wearing of fugu, a traditional Ghanaian smock, while strengthening staff engagement and fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence in service delivery.
A major highlight of the celebration was a friendly inter-divisional fugu competition, which saw directors proudly dressed in fugu cheering on their respective staff as they showcased their outfits on the runway. The competition created an atmosphere of camaraderie, excitement and healthy rivalry, bringing together management and staff in a shared appreciation of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The Director of Human Capital and General Administration, Mrs Cynthia Arthur, commended management for instituting what she described as an innovative approach to promoting Ghanaian culture within the Ministry.
She noted that the occasion was particularly memorable given the Ministry’s role as a hub for fiscal responsibility, where activities of this nature are not commonplace. She added that the initiative provided a refreshing opportunity for staff to connect beyond their usual professional responsibilities while celebrating an important aspect of Ghanaian identity.
The celebration forms part of the Ministry’s broader Client Service Week activities, being held under the theme “The Extra Mile – Driven by PEER, Committed to Excellence.” The theme underscores the importance of going beyond routine expectations to deliver quality service and create a positive experience for clients and stakeholders.
Beyond the cultural showcase, the week’s activities will feature roundtable discussions to encourage the exchange of ideas and perspectives, debates to stimulate critical thinking and constructive engagement, as well as the recognition of outstanding participants and divisions for their contributions and commitment to service excellence.
The activities are expected to reinforce the values underpinning the Ministry’s service delivery agenda, while encouraging staff to embrace innovation, collaboration and professionalism in their interactions with clients and stakeholders.
