Ms. Evelyn Amerley Nuno-Amarteifio is a Chief State Attorney and Director of the Legal Directorate. Ms. Nuno-Amarteifio leads the legal team to advise the Ministry, other Ministries, Departments and Agencies and State Owned Enterprises on amongst others legal questions emanating from review of documents, policy development and implementation, drafting of laws, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and proper public financial management.
With over 17 years of experience as a lawyer in the Ministry of Finance, Ghana, Ms. Nuno-Amarteifio has provided significant advice on a myriad of matters that has secured significant savings for the Ghanaian government.
Her expertise encompasses commercial and contract law, financial law, public financial management, project management, local and international negotiations, team management and stakeholder engagement.
Prior to becoming Director Legal, Ms. Nuno-Amarteifio was appointed as the first Acting Executive Secretary of the pioneering Independent Tax Appeals Board (ITAB) charged with amongst others establishing and operationalizing the Institution. She held this role from March 2023 till August 2025, firmly establishing ITAB, and ensuring its credibility as an institution that aggrieved taxpayers can rely upon for settlement of their tax disputes.
Ms. Nuno-Amarteifio was called to the Ghana Bar in 2006, and holds two Master’s degrees - an LLM in Tax Law, Policy and Practice from the University of Ghana and an MSc (with merit) in Programme and Project Management from the University of Warwick.
She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Honours degree from the University of Nottingham. Ms. Nuno-Amarteifio is a notary public and a certified Public Private Partnership (PPP) professional.
