2019 Accra Sustainable Development Goals Fair Opens Tomorrow

Accra, Tuesday, 26th November 2019…The Ministry of Finance in partnership with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Advisory Unit at the Presidency, the Planning Ministry and the Ghana Investment Promotions Centre will from Wednesday, 27th November to Thursday, 28th November, 2019 host the 2019 Accra SDGs Investment Fair.  

The investment fair under the theme, Building Mutually Beneficial Partnerships is expected to bring together stakeholders made up of civil society organizations, politicians, entrepreneurs, investors, technocrats, students and the media.

The Accra SDGs Investment Fair was established to encourage private financing of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and facilitate collaborations between investors and sustainable public and private sector projects/businesses. The Fair will provide opportunities for matchmaking between investors and projects.

 The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to deliver the Keynote address. Other speakers billed to speak at the fair include Hon. Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori- Atta, and Mr. Yofi Grant, CEO, Ghana Investment Promotion Center.

The Accra 2019 investment fair would focus on topics which include “Financing the SDGs-One Project at a time”; “Finding economic solutions to environmental problems”; “Catalyzing private sector investment for sustainable jobs”; and “Developing bankable projects for impact financing”.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

Ghana’s multi-stakeholder partnership approach to the implementation of the SDGs has enhanced collaborations among various stakeholders. Traditional authorities, civil society organizations’, private sector, academia, youth groups, United Nations agencies and other development partners, have demonstrated their support for the 2030 Agenda through the implementation of initiatives that contribute to achieving the SDGs.

About 30 exhibitors from Ghana will also exhibit their made in Ghana services and products during the Fair while looking for potential investor partners. The
2019 SDG Fair will end with two webinars planned for the 28th November 2019.
